There are two types of numerals in Bulgarian – cardinal and ordinal, functioning in much the same way as the English numerals.

In Bulgarian special forms of the cardinal numbers are used when we denote bus numbers, playing cards, school marks, etc: единица

Some cardinal numerals have approximate forms, e.g.:
десетина – about ten
стотина – about hundred
An approximate number can be expressed by combining two cardinal numerals:

The cardinal numerals also have special masculine personal forms, reserved for when you are talking about people:
двама ученици

Ordinal numerals
The ordinal numerals are formed by adding the ending – и to the cardinal numerals (with the exception of the numerals first and second which are irregular, аnd third and fourth which undergo some sound changes):

Changes that the numerals can undergo
Some numerals in Bulgarian have gender forms:
едно – masculine: един, feminine: една, neutral: едно
две – masculine: два/двама, feminine: две, neutral: две
Some numerals in Bulgarian have plural forms:
хиляда – хиляди
милион – милиони
милиард – милиарди
and if you mention a specific number in front of милион and милиард, you have:
два милиона
три милиарда
The ordinal numerals have gender forms:
първи, първа, първо
втори, втора, второ
as well as definite forms (in English one generally uses the ordinal numerals with the definite article – in Bulgarian you only do it if the usage is determined by the meaning and context):
